Fundamentals of Voice (ages 9-20): Wed, Fall 2017 (Inactive)

This class focuses on what goes on inside the body while we are singing.  Beginning with proper breathing techniques, students will learn about the various muscles that come together to produce an awesome sound.  Students will have a first hand opportunity to see and learn about what their vocal chords are doing while they are singing.  One of the coolest things about singing is that the voice is your own special instrument!

Just like any other language, music is made up of parts that can be broken down into even smaller parts. In this class, students will learn some of the basic musical essentials that comprise music theory. These essentials include: the musical alphabet, key and time signatures, and scales among others. Students will develop confidence in their sight reading abilities and knowledge about the music they are singing or playing.
